3. Who is your favorite artist?
4. Which museum in New York is your favorite?
5. Which museums in other cities have you visited?
6. If possible, post a photo of a work of art that you like, for all of us to see.

    2. Cynthia, your choice of da Vinci is an interesting one. You are right that he knew a lot about many different disciplines. He was called a Renaissance man.

  3. 1. I’m not an artistic person, I wish I could, but I appreciate good pieces of art when I saw one. But specifically I look for digital art. I enjoy watching all the expressions of art in it. Nowadays technology allows us to create wonderful things with computers such as videogames, web and mobile applications, maps, graphic effects, illustrations and more.

    2. In traditional art, I dislike watching all basic painting. Instead, I prefer to watch complex painting. I think that it really interesting to observe a complex image or object that could means different things for each individual who watches it. So I prefer abstract, because this gives you more to explore and think about it.

    3. I can remember a specific name, but I really appreciate the job of the people who create an entire stage in a movie just from a green screen. It’s really impressive.

    4. I remembered that when I was little, I always looked for museum in my home town. I was amazed about the idea to explore those places. But with the time, I realize that I prefer to see the beauty in travel and explore cities. Since I came here, I never have been in a museum in New York, but I’m planning to have a trip soon.

    5. Museums from Guayaquil, Ecuador:
    - Municipal of Guayaquil Museum
    - Anthropologic and contemporary Art (MAAC) Museum
    - Nahím Isaías Museum
    - Presley Norton Museum

    1. Gabriela, it is interesting that you appreciate art in a wider sense, that is, not just painting. Digital art and movie stages certainly qualify as art. I also agree with you about abstract art, as I love some ( but not all) of it too.

  5. I do love art. Actually, I preferred representational a few years ago, because I don't understand abstract. Some abstract painter just spills different color onto paper, then that work can be very worth. But as time passes by, I realize that the reason why I don't understand abstract painting. If I don’t stand high enough, I'll unable to see some beautiful scene, even though other peoples tell me how wonderful it is. The abstract is the same.
I love many of artists because every artist has their own feature. I admire their artistic talent when I saw these interesting works. Joseph Mallord William Turner (J. M. W. Turner) is one of my favorite artists. He was an English Romanticist landscape painter, water-colourist, and printmaker. He is commonly known as "the painter of light". I felt comfortable when I looked at his painting. And it gives me a sense of hopeful. I also love a Japanese artist Yoshiharu. He is not famous like Turner, but his work is relaxing and peaceful. Sometime I feel really down, I'll look at his painting.
Obviously, the MOMA museum is the best choice to visit, and I love it too. I also love NEUE GALERIE museum and American Museum of Natural History. It's amazing.
I've been to the Guan Shanyue Art Museum in Shenzhen, China and Nanjing Museum in Nanjing, China. I'd love to spend the whole day at the museum, I think it is a good way to feel something and learn new things.

    Here is the website for J. M. W. Turner's and Yoshiharu’s works:

    1. Kimmy, I am pleased that you know about, and appreciate, J.M.W Turner's art. You can also find some of his paintings at the Frick Museum that I mentioned in class today. In addition, there is a movie about him, made last year, called "Turner." It is not a very happy movie, but it is interesting.

  6. Hi everyone
before start i have to say that i don't like so much art.It can be a surprise but,for me is little bit difficult to understand something the idea of the different kind the art. however i love see beautiful paintings that make me relax.sometimes i enjoy watching the different kind the sculptures that we can see in the museums.

2-I prefer representative art because is for me easy sometimes understand the idea and the emotions that the artist try to show,in another hand I believe that abstract art is to people that have knowledge because they can develop the real idea of the artist. my favorite artist is a sculptor in colombia the name fernando Botero, all his work have a different style where he mis the most important elements in our culture love, religion and social class.

3- I have visited a few museums in new york but in my opinion the MoMa museum and the natural history museum are the best.i love go when i have time because always i find something different and amazing.

    1. I am familiar with Botero's sculpture, and find it really interesting. You can find some here in New York outdoors - I think on 79th Street on the East Side - and probably other places as well.I am not sure I understand his style, though.

  7. Personally, I do like painting as an art especially the representational art, because I can see easily the logic or beauty underlying the paint. More specifically, I am quite obsessed with “Arabic calligraphy” which is a form of art depends on handwriting and calligraphy of the alphabet of the Arabic language. I am taking private tutoring in this type of art back home, so I really miss this sense now. Below are some examples of Arabic calligraphy
